about
This track was written about a busking /hitch hiking trip around southern Island .
lyrics
And the morning sun rose,
Over ancient stones,
By the road where we lay weary.
We had come far with whistle , guitar,
and your lucky thumb on the road .
Been through it all, highs and lows,
From smiles on you face ,
To tears on pillows,
Avoiding the shadows ,
Along the road ,
as we went on our merry way.
Playing for change.
In Lisdoonvarna the skies turned grey,
We walked for a million miles ,
In pouring rain,
But i like the wind ,
Would long to remain,
In the rolling fields of Clare.
Soaked to the skin ,
We found Eugenes bar ,
He beckoned us in and poured me a jar ,
Said play us a tune ,
and Ill pour you some more .
So to keep out of the rain.
We were playing for change .
As atlantic waves rolled on to the land ,
We sat in silence on the emerald sands ,
Both of us knowing this trip had to end ,
Cause England was calling again.
As the tired old sun sank to its bed,
we me an old stranger ,
Who long had been fed ,
We gave him the last of our soda bread.
Cause he was doing the same .
He was playing for change .
